Questions
Do I need an IC card?
No, you do not strictly need an IC card, but many visitors find one convenient. A rechargeable IC card lets you tap in and out of trains, subways and buses instead of working out each fare, and some shops and vending machines accept it too. Availability for visitors, phone versions and refund rules differ by operator and change over time, so check with the operators or official visitor information. Carry a little cash as well, in case the card runs out of value and a machine will not accept your payment card.¹
