What this rate is, and is not

The ECB reference rate is published once on working days. It is a benchmark, not the buy or sell rate a bank, card or exchange counter will give you, which usually includes a margin or fee. Check the rate and costs with your provider before you exchange money. Nothing here is financial advice.

The yen to dollar rate is computed through the euro, because the ECB publishes euro-based rates only. On weekends and ECB holidays the last working day's rate is shown; the date of the data is printed inside the tool.
