Suica
Suica is a well-known IC card used in the Tokyo area and accepted in many other regions of Japan, mainly for trains, subways and buses and in some shops. Availability for visitors, phone versions and refund rules differ and have changed over time, so check the issuing operator for current details before you rely on one. The balance is held in yen, and any leftover value is not converted back automatically, so load modest amounts at a time. See also: Pasmo, IC card, and the guide IC Cards in Japan.
A short definition for orientation. The guides and the institutions' own documents are the places for the details.
