Yen to Dollar

Information on the yen and dollar rate

Glossary entry

DCC

DCC is short for dynamic currency conversion, the offer to pay in your home currency instead of the local one. When a terminal or ATM in Japan asks which currency to pay in, choosing the local currency, yen, usually avoids it and lets your card network and issuer handle the conversion under the terms you agreed to. A quick check is to compare the dollar total on the screen with the yen price converted at the reference rate, plus your card's own fee if any. A short definition for orientation. The guides and the institutions' own documents are the places for the details.
